ULTIMATE WEDDING VOW GUIDE

Ultimate Wedding Vow Guide – Vow Templates & Examples

Personalized weddings are some of the best weddings you can attend! They are memorable, fun, and exciting. So, one piece of advice that many wedding experts love to give is personalizing your wedding.

Writing your own vows is one of the best ways that you can personalize your celebration. Nothing can replicate the emotions and beauty on display when a couple reads their personal vows. It is unique and extraordinary.

There's, however, a tiny snag if you choose to do this. You may soon discover that it's not as easy as it seems. Even poets could find themselves at a loss when it comes to this. The reason? You'll be expressing your innermost feelings about the person that means the most to you in the world! It can be a little daunting.

If you're in this situation, I'd love to help. I believe that it is possible to write those heartwarming vows just as you've always dreamed. Here are a few tips to get you started. I've even included some templates and examples below.

·  Tip 1: Start Early

Don't push writing your vows until just a few days before your wedding. You'll be under so much pressure then and be very tempted to give up. You need time to finish, edit and even rewrite your vows if necessary. So, start as early as possible. Right after you read this is an excellent time.

·  Tip 2: Choose A Theme

Just like the wedding you're planning; your vows can have a theme too. Some examples are unconditional love or humor. A theme will help to organize and tie your words together. To find the perfect one, just think of what best describes your relationship.

·  Tip 3: Have an Inspiration

It could be focusing on your partner or even thinking about when you had your first kiss. Having an inspiration while you write your vows will get those romantic words flowing easier.

·  Tip 4: Avoid Clichés

Love is patient, and love is kind. Yes, you know that your partner knows that, and so does everybody else. There's a chance your officiant will use it in his speech too! How about going for more details about what makes your relationship so special to you? They'll make your vows more personal and unique.

·  Tip 5: Keep It Sweet and Simple

The best vows are about 400 to 650 words long. When you're speaking, that should translate to somewhere between three to five minutes long. This will keep your words more engaging and meaningful. It'll also help you cut out excesses in your speech.

Vow Templates

Okay, so now that we have an idea where to get started, here are some lovely templates. You can draw your inspiration from any of the following:

·  Romantic

(Partner's Name), I knew from the first day I met you that we were meant to be together. You are my love, my light, my soul mate, and my best friend. There is no one else that I would rather be with or choose to share my life with. I promise to love you loyally and fiercely for eternity.

(Partner's Name), today surrounded by our loved ones, I choose you. I promise to share all my love, hopes, and dreams with you. Together, I know we can achieve anything. I will love you through it all and for the rest of our lives.

Bonus Tip: Don't Make Promises You Can't Keep

It is entirely normal to feel passionate and emotional when writing your vows. As you do, try to avoid making impossible promises. For example, don't promise to make your wife breakfast in bed for the rest of your life. Stick to the realm of possibilities and be genuine. It's always more refreshing.

·  Funny

I, (Your Name), take you (Your Partner's name) to be my beloved (husband/wife). I promise to be faithful and love you always, even when your favorite team is losing. I will unconditionally support and cherish you without too much sass (Except on Fridays).

Dear, (Your Partner's Name), you are the love of my life. I promise to pause the TV when you have something to say and to never watch an episode of our favorite show without you. And by the end of the day, I promise to update my Facebook status to "Married."

·  Religious

I (Name) take you to be my husband/wife, before God who has brought us together. I promise that we will serve Christ together with God's help to strengthen and guide us. I will love, cherish and honor you always as we continue to trust God for as long as we both shall live.

Dear (Your Partner's Name), I prayed to God for this very moment, and here we are. I praise Him as this is His will being fulfilled. I pledge to show you the same type of love that Christ showed the church when he died for her. I will always be by your side as we keep the presence of the Lord in our home.

Popular Vows Examples from Movies That You'll Love for Inspiration

·  Lily and Marshall from How I met Your Mother

Marshall: There are a million reasons why I love you. You make me laugh, and you take care of me when I'm sick. You're sweet, caring, and you even created an egg dish and named it after me... It's called "Egg Marshall," and it's awesome. But the main reason that I love you is that you're my best friend. You're the best friend I ever had.

Lily: I love you because you're funny and you make me feel loved, and you make me feel safe. And for our anniversary, you gave me a sweatshirt that says, "Lily and Marshall: Rockin' It Since '96"... but the main reason I love you is you make me happy. You make me happy all the time.

·  Bernadette and Howard from The Big Bang Theory

Bernadette: Like you, this is going to be short and sweet. I love you with all my heart and soul and promise to be with you forever.

Howard: Until I met you, I couldn't imagine spending my life with just one person. And now, I can't imagine spending one day of it without you.

·  Rachel and Sidney from Rachel Getting Married

Rachel: You are just so full of grace, and I promise before God and these beautiful people that I will love you fiercely and sweetly. And I look forward to sharing this great life with you. Thank you for marrying me.

Sidney: All that I ever wanted was to just hear music, and when I met you, I heard you. And, Rachel, you're the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Thank you for marrying me.

In Conclusion

Personalized wedding vows are a great idea. However, it's easy to become a huge critic of your work when writing them. Just remember that it's normal, so don't let it stop you from writing. You can always edit and change the places you do not like at the end.

With vows, the key is to get started and see how far you can go. Remember that writing your own vows is a process with such a lovely reward at the end. Also, once you do have the perfect words, don't forget to practice as much as you can. This will make it easier for you to seem more confident and speak from that heart on that special day. Best of luck!!!
