ALYSSA + JAMES CHOSE A LOCATION THEY CALL HOME
We chose the farm because it is home. It is especially home for James. He grew up on this farm. It has been passed down through the generations and now James runs the farm on his own. This farm is a huge part of James life from his mothers side. Unfortunately, his mom passed away 3+ years ago. It was extremely difficult on the family but I know his mom is on that farm with him every single day.
How did you and your Partner meet?
James and I met through my mom. She was the Assistant Principal at NFA and he was a new teacher. Every time he went into the office for something, she would ask him if he was single. My mom gave him my number and he texted me.
What made you pick this location for your session?

Tell me about your first date
We met for drinks at Friday's one day after work at the end of January. We were inseparable ever since. We instantly clicked. Had similar childhoods. Talked about everything.
What makes you laugh?
James is a funny guy. We always say he is young at heart and old at heart. That may not make sense but it is very true. He is so silly and loves to act like a kid. He says the funniest things... so random that make you question what he is even thinking. We really do make each other laugh all the time.
What do you think makes you unique as a couple?
One thing that I think makes us unique is the fact that we are polar opposites! We couldn't be any different. Yes, of course we have similarities but I think our differences made us compatible. We have gone through many trials and stipulations over the last eight years. Our differences really gave us a run for our money and challenged us as a couple. The love that we had for each other was and is so incredibly strong that we made it through to now. This engagement has been a long time coming! We truly did not know if we would make it. We had to work really hard to be together. Through the ups and downs and differences, we are now stronger than ever!
I love reading proposal stories. Could you share yours?
James planned something special for our proposal, but plans fell through. He was disappointed but made it happen anyway. He came home one day from the farm and went straight into the bedroom. It was weird because he usually stops to chat. I was watching TV on the couch in my favorite brown sweat suit. He hates it! We always joke about it. He came back into the living room and told me that he planned something else but those plans fell through. He said he did not want to wait any longer because he knew how badly I wanted to get engaged. After all, we had been together for 8 years! He got down on one knee and proposed right then. I am an emotional wreck so I cried and cried. I stared at the ring and he put it on my finger. While I was sobbing, he was laughing hysterically. Typical us! I sat there for a few just staring at the ring. It is so beautiful! After a few minutes, he said "Well aren't you going to call everyone." So we did. Everyone was so excited. My family knew it was coming. His family was shocked! I loved their reactions.
