ALEXIS + PETER AN ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

Peter and I met when they were children. Peter happened to live in the same area as Alexis and became friends with her older brother through elementary school. Eventually, Peter had moved to another area and a few years later, Alexis had actually also moved to the same area without knowing that was where Peter had also moved to. In middle school, Peter and Alexis brother reconnected and were good friends again, so Peter frequently visited Alexis's house when hanging out with her older brother. Peter and Alexis started talking more and more after a surprise birthday party Alexis's family had thrown for her, which Peter was invited to. So, they had essentially known each other since they were very little!

First date:

Peter and I had our first date at the Brewster Ice Arena. It was not an intentional date, as we were both friends and were going as group. Through conversation Peter had asked if I wanted to go ice skating with him and mutual friends. I agreed and had met him at his house and since I had moved again to another area did not want to drive to the ice arena after driving about 45 minutes to his house. On our way there the conversation was just easy, and we laughed a lot! Ice skating was a lot of fun with the group of friends we had met there, but we still did not realize it would later be what we say is our first official date. After ice skating had ended Peter and I had gone to his house to hang out and watch a movie before I had headed home. We ended up just talking the entire night from funny childhood memories of things we had with each other to just life. We had laughed so much that night from talking that we don't even remember what movie we were watching. The following days we had talked about what a great time we had together and wanted to hang out again.

Proposal stories:

My favorite day! Peter and I had recently over the summer went and visited our friends, Eddie and Megan, in North Carolina, and they had decided that they wanted to come visit us in New York and made the plan for them to come in during the end of August beginning of September. We had a lot of fun together, unfortunately, I had to work most of their visit and was super bummed out that they would be going to see New York City without me. One day after I had gotten home from work, they announced that they would be extending their trip and leaving Sunday, and the plan was to go to the city on Saturday, so I could join them! The night before Peter had blurted out that I should maybe wear something nice when we went, I thought he was crazy because he has never cared about what I wear anywhere we ever went before. Our friends had never been to New York City before, so I was under the impression that we were going to be walking around a lot and essentially sightseeing to show them around, so I had planned to dress super comfortable and casually. I had gone to bed thinking that maybe Peter was going to propose, but talked myself out of it and completely forgot that I had even thought about it, until afterward. On our drive to the city, Peter once again said something super random that didn't make sense until, after the fact, I didn't keep questioning it, but now know that it was nerves! We had met up with another one of our mutual friends and decided that the first stop would be Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park because you can see the Statue of Liberty in the distance by the water. Peter knew I was not into the big crowds of people and didn't like the spotlight on me. This area specifically had no large crowds, barely anyone was around, which I loved. It was a beautiful day out, and my friend Megan and I were looking at the view of the water while the others were behind us. Peter then came up to me and asked if I would take a picture with him, and I of course said yes! I turned around to our friends who all at once had their phones out, which is kind of when I for sure knew what was going on. Peter realized I kinda knew, so he started talking to me and then eventually got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I of course said yes, the rest of the day was amazing we visited so many places so our friends could see New York City and I just remember that I could not stop staring at my ring. The shock lasted for a couple of days for sure after that, and to this day is my absolute favorite day!

One thing you love about each other:

For me, I love so many things about Peter, but if I had to choose one, it would be his humor. He can make me laugh no matter what else is going on or what kind of day I had.

Peter: I also love everything about Alexis, but if I had to choose one it would be her smile, which can light up a room.
